Android Overview
An android in science fiction is a machine built to simulate human function. It's often synonymous with robot, but to quote the android character Lt. Commander Data from Star Trek the Next Generation "I am an android, not a robot." Android is also the term used by Google for its mobile operating system found on a variety of smart phones.
