comet Elenin Overview

Comet Elenin (a.k.a. C/2010 X1) was discovered by Russian amateur astronomer Leonid Elenin on Dec. 10, 2010. The Coment Elenin was supposed to be part of a doomsday scenario for September 2011. Comet Elenin started disintegrating in August 2011 and by mid October 2011 was not visible using large ground-based telescopes.
