Jack Layton Overview
Jack Layton (July 18, 1950 - August 22, 2011) was a Canadian politician who led the New Democratic Party from 2003 to 2011. He was the Member of Parliament for the Toronto-Danforth riding. Shortly before his death he had completed an historic election campaign that led his party to Official Opposition status.
